SECTION 4 CANON CITY MILLING FACILITY
METEOROLOGICAL MONITORING
The meteorobgical monitoring station pertormed as well in 2000 as in previous years. Data recovery during
2000 was 98.32% (Table 43) which was comparable to the 1999 recovery of 99.9a/o. The evaporation system
operated from early May through October. The total evaporation during the 2000 monitoring period was
44.96 inches which averages approximately 0.24 inches per day (186 days measured). This rate was
comparable to the 1999 evaporation race. The precipitation in 2000 was bwer than the 1999 total (11 inches
vs 19.91 inches) but was approximately the average annual precipitation.
The annual wind rose was generated based on 8713 hours of wind data. The Windrow (Figure 418)
indicates that the winds wee predominanty westerly with a smaller easterly component. The westerly winds
comprised 36% of the winds whereas the easterly winds comprised approximately 19%. The calm winds
(<4.0 mph) comprised 20.6% of the winds with the remaining 24.6% of the winds distributed over the
remaining 10 wind directions. Wind speed average readied as high as a Class 5 rating (19 - 24.7 mph) which
was also westerly but only <i% of the time. The wind speed averages ranged from 0.0 to 24.5 miles per
hour (mph). The winds occurred at about the same rate and frequency as in previous years.
Lcs 4-(ts°Ei ~
Ci~T?'(Or
CA~tO;? ~aiz~r
Pub4ic iwE~=F~ =; °_
516 M~~t;s~ r~;`~%>.
Cal~or ~it~{, ~',~
8121
423
