i
STEVENS GULCH BASIN WATER RIGHTS
Table 5 is an alphabetical listing of decreed water rights on
Stevens Gulch. A review of these water rights (see Appendix III-
A) indicates that 16.533 cfs have been decreed for irrigation and
1.40 cfs and 49.0 AF have been decreed for other uses including
domestic, stockpond and fish culture. Although, four irrigation
ditches are listed, diversion records (see Appendix III-B) and
acreage values exist only on the Price Drain Ditch (20 acres) and
the Thomas Thompson Ditch (20 acres).
Like Roatcap Creek, flows from Stevens Gulch have not been
diverted into the Fire Mountain Canal which has been decreed for
• 15.0 cfs. The other ditches in Stevens Gulch Basin divert their
water from springs, seeps and/or waste water, none of which divert
from Stevens Gulch Creek.
Four conditional decrees exist in Stevens Gulch: 1) Orchard
•
Valley Wells No. 1, 2, 3 and 4, 2) Paonia High School Sump and
Reservoir, 3) Pitkin Mesa Spring No. 1, and 4) Watercress Spring
Pipeline. The Orchard Valley Wells No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 were decreed
pursuant to the only existing augmentation plan within the AOI.
III-2
