UNITED POWER, INC. <br />POLICY <br />MINING ACTIVITIES ADJACENT TO ELECTRIC <br />POWER LINES <br />In order to comply with applicable codes and regulations and United Power safety <br />and operational requirements, mining activities must maintain a minimum of 10' <br />radial clearance from all overhead and underground electric power lines. <br />No mining excavation shall be allowed within a minimum of 10' of any overhead or <br />underground electric power line paralleling a public road or highway or other <br />permanent access. Existing grade must be maintained for a minimum of 10' from <br />the electric power line; from that point; a minimum 3:1 slope shall extend to a <br />distance of at least 35' from the top of the excavation <br />No mining excavation shall be allowed within a minimum of 35' of either side of any <br />overhead or underground electric power line with mining activities on both sides of <br />the line. No excavation shall be allowed within a minimum of 20' of the point that <br />any overhead electric power line guy wire anchor rod enters the ground. <br />Continuous all weather access must be provided to and parallel to all electric power <br />Jines within the area of excavation. A 70' wide corridor, 35' on either side of the <br />electric power line, shall be maintained to allow access by United Power, Inc to <br />overhead electric power poles and -ines and to underground electric system <br />facilities. Please see the attached sketch, Attachment `1A" for typical situation <br />requirements. <br />The intent of this Policy is to ensure the integrity of the electric power line and <br />provide for all weather access to the line for maintenance. <br />All requests for variance to this Policy shall be subject to review and approval of the <br />United Power, Inc.
