04021 <br />Introduction <br />Banks and Gesso, LLC <br />Asphalt Paving Company is applying for a Construction Materials Regular 112 Operation <br />Reclamation Permit for sand and gravel mining and processing on 2 parcels of land with <br />a combined area of 135 acres, located in Weld County near the unincorporated town of <br />Wattenberg. The property is to be called the Wattenberg West Sand and Gravel Mine. <br />The site will be dewatered and dry mined, and reclaimed to two interconnected lined <br />water storage reservoirs. <br />The property is located west of the unincorporated town of Wattenberg. It is bounded by <br />Weld County Road 6 on the north and Weld County Road 4.5 on the South. The <br />Brighton Ditch and Weld County Road 23 run along the western edge of the property. <br />Asphalt Paving Company currently operates the nearby Perry Pit (east of Wattenberg) <br />under Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) permit #M-1990-098. The applicant <br />proposes to move the processing plants from Perry Pit to Wattenberg West during the <br />final stage of mining at Perry Pit, and truck approximately 225,000 tons of pit run from <br />Perry Pit to Wattenberg West for processing. When reserves at Perry Pit are depleted, <br />mining at Wattenberg West will begin. <br />In addition to the aggregate processing plant, Rsphalt Paving Company may also <br />operate a portable asphalt plant and concrete plant.
