'this unit is limited for livestock watering ponds and other water
impoundments because of the seepage potential.
This unit is moderately well suited to windbreaks and
envi-onmental plantings. The main limitations are slope,
drou~7htiness, and the hazard of water erosion, Planting on the
contour helps to conserve moisture. Summer fallow, con+,inued
cult vation for weed control, and selection of adapted plants are
need~ad to insure establishment and survival of seedling. Supplemental
irrigation may be needed when planting and during dry periods.
This unit is poorly suited to homesite development. If this unit
is ue~ed far homesite development, the main limitations are slope, the
hazard of water erosion, and cutbank cave. Cutbanks are not ;table
and are subject to slumping, Preserving the existing plant cover
during construction helps to control erosion. Topsoil can be
stock:piled and usad to reclaim areas disturbed during construction.
Eros on is a hazard in the steeper areas. Only the part of the site
that is used for constructien should be disturbed. Revegetating
disturbed areas around construction sites as soon as possible helps tc
control soil blowing. Plant cover can be established and maintained
through proper fertilizing, seeding, mulching, and shaping of the
slopes. In summer, irrigation is needed for lawn grasses, shrubs,
vine=_:, shade trees, and ornamental trees.
elope is a concern in installing septic tank absorption fields.
Absorption lines should be installed on the contour. If the density
of hcusing is moderate to high, community sewage systems are needed to
prevent contamination of water supplies as a result of seepage from
onsit:e sewage disposal systems.
this map unit is in capability subclass VIe, nonirrigated. The
Eckley sail is in the Gravel Breaks range site and the Wages soil is
in the Loamy Plains range site.
