• lJn March li of 1986, with reclamation of the mines underway, a
request for technical revision to eliminate all hydrologic
monitoring except for NPDES permits was submitted. Dn April 15,
1986, MLRD approved the revision except far well HRG-I, of which
ongoing monitoring was required. Additional data was obtained
during the summer of 1986 which allowed this well to be plugged.
The well was plugged in the fall of 1986.
In addition to the routine groundwater and surface water
monitoring, Enron was to maintain 12.7 acre-feet of water in a
prescribed reservoir draining to Curtis Creek. This augmentation
plan was required by Stipulation No. 8 of the permit until proof
could be supplied that no water from the creek was entering the
Reinau # 2 Mine. On March 11, 986, information collected over a
year period was submitted to MLRD, proving that there was no
communication between the creek and the mine. Enron requested a
technical revision to drop Stipulation No. 8 from the permit.
MLRD granted approval on July 10, 1986. The information on which
the decision was based is included Qn ~~ G-Sya th~ou~6. G-$'if.
The obsolete augmentation plan is shown in Exhibit G-6 for
reference.
•

G-IA ,^/-J/Q~
