<br />DEPTH DESCRIPTION AND COMMENTS
<br />0.0 - 4.0 Fine sandy cla~loa~m~ light yellow brown (dry), orange brown, (wet),
<br />sandstone fla etc s~pebbles 35%, iron staining abundant, roots and
<br />• O.M.
<br />4.0 - 8.0 Weathered shale intermixed with sandstone, light white, gray, brown,
<br />iron staining, effervesces in dilute HCL in places. Used push barrel for
<br />first 10'.
<br />8.0 - 12.0 Sandstone (very fine grained), light white-gray brown, iron and clay
<br />content decreasing, no ribboning effect, some silt, feels floury.
<br />12.0 - 26.0 Becomes consolidated sandstone at 12', yellow brown, medium-low
<br />hardness, heavy iron staining and carbon abundant, some roots, shale in
<br />part 21.5', also carbon can tent is increasing, color of sandstone is
<br />becoming darker with depth, shale in part 25.9'.
<br />26.0 - 27.2 Lost
<br />27.2 - 30.8 Shale, brown, some gray, heavy iron staining, some CaCO3 deposits,
<br />color change to gray distinct at 29.1', effervesces in dilute HCL.
<br />30.8 - 40.8 Sandstone, gray with carbonaceous streaking, some iron staining,
<br />medium hardness, some CaCO3 in parts, small shale lenses at 37.5,
<br />29.5, 40.6, some coal chips interspersed throughout.
<br />40.8 - 43.5 Shale, dark gray brown, coal chips, carbonaceous (42.4 - 42.8 lost)
<br />shale from 42.9-43.5', moist from 42.8-43.3'.
<br />• 43.5 - 52.3 Coal, fractures somewhat easily, Traces of pyrite and iron.
