VoltaPe Regulator
TCC will use three voltage regulators at the mine to increase the effectiveness of its power distribution system. The
regulator will be placed on a concrete pad and enclosed within a chain link fence. The location of the regulators is
shown on Map 24.
Capacitor Bank (MR 01-175)
In order to assure the effectiveness of the power delivery system to the mine YVEA will be installing and
maintaining two capacitor banks on TCC's property. The location of the capacitor banks is shown on Map 24,
Surface Facilities. The capacitor banks will be the property of YVEA and will remain after mining to compliment
YVEA's power distribution system.
The footprint of the capacitor bank area is approximately 0.2 acres. Within this footprint approximately 12 - 18
inches of topsoil exists and it will be salvaged prior to installation of the capacitor banks. The topsoil,
approximately 485 CY's, will be placed on topsoil stockpile SF-1. Also, a segment of Colorado Yampa Coal
Company's (CYCC) drainage channel PG 1-2 will be relocated to accommodate construction of the pad the
capacitor banks will be constructed upon. The channel will be moved approximately 5 feet to the west of its current
location. The channel will re reconstructed as per the design approved in CYCC's permit number C-81-071. The
pad will be constructed by importing approximately 700 CY's of selected material into the pad area. The selected
material will come from either the clay salvage area located at the refuse pile or materials brought in from off-site.
The capacitor banks will be constructed on top of six 3 foot diameter piers, with an 18 inch 5 foot concrete slab on
top of the pier. A battery cabinet will be included within the pad area and it will be constructed on a footer
approximately 6' x 3' x 1.5'. In addition to the battery cabinet, an additional ] 0 piers will be poured to support
• various deadend structures, switchers and fuse panels. All of the piers will be typically 12 feet in depth and three
feet in diameter. A security fence will be constructed around the pad to keep unauthorized persons from entering
into the site. The pad will extend out from the fence to allow access into the facility and minimize weed growth.
The capacitors will be placed and wired into Twentymile's power system. The facility will remain after mining.
RetaiuinQ Wall
TCC will instal[ a Hilfiger type retaining wall at its' Batch Loadout Facility (BLO}. The location is shown on Map
24. The retaining wall will function as a stabilizer to limit any erosion between the access to the BLO and the
railroad tracks. The wire basket and rock retaining wall will be buried as part of final reclamation.
•
MR 01-175 page 2.05-47.1 23 October Ol
