• NMD (Panels 12 Right through 16 Right' (PR 99-05)
The NMD will increase the affected area with the permit, i.e. area overlying longwall panels,
gateroads and mains, by 2,779.2 acres. The federal reserved to be mined in the area is presented
in Confidential table 6c, OSM, PRS, Federal Reserve Calculations. The area to be mined in the
NMD permit term is shown on Map 23 Mine Plan. The permit area is identified by [he color
coding used in creating the map. The mining layout will include longwall panels length up to
approximately 17,000 feet, longwall panel width of 1000 feet, and gateroad, and mine
development work as described in PR-03. The dimension of pillars in these development areas
may vary based upon mining conditions. Sumps and ventilation doglegs will be added as needed,
altfiough this location is not provided on Map 23 due to the variable location of these features.
During the NMD permit term, longwall mining will be conducted under [he Foidel and Fish
Creek AVF's, Fish Creek, the Union Pacific Railraod and two reservoirs owned by [he Ashleys.
A more detailed discussion of undermining these structures will be presented in a late section.
NMD - 14 Right Gateroad Alternate Location (MR 01-171)
Currently, TCC is in the process of evaluating if the 1000' wide face can be increased to
approximately 1200 feet or wider. The outcome of the evaluation may limit the face width to
something less than 1200 feet. The potential increase in face width will not impact the prior
/ federal reserve calculations because the 14 Right I,ongwall is not located in federal coal.
(3) Mine Facilities
• (a) A narrative and maps, to meet the standards prescribed in 2.10.
describint; the location, construction, modification, use, maintenance and removal of mine
facilities in the permit area includine all building, structures and utilit~orridors.
RESPONSE
The existing Foidel Creek Mine surface facilities consist of building structures, material handling
system, utilities, and surface areas as shown on Map 24, Surface Facilities. Untopsoiled areas
within the surface facilities area may be leveled and then utilized for additional storage.
Buildines
The mine administrative office is a 60 foot by 36 foot modular trailer structure, which has been
modified [o allow for [he cold weather and heavy snow load of the area. The administrative
structure contains I 1 offices for the mine staff. As the mine expands, a new office bathhouse ~
complex will be built to replace the modular trailers, as indicated on Map 24, Surface Facilities.
[n the interim, another administrative office has been added for mine staff. The 36 foot by 56 ;
foot trailer will be located west of the original administrative office. The trailer will contain a
bathroom and will be hooked up [o the existing septic and water systems. Electrical power will ~~ _
be supplied to the trailer by a transformer located on the east side of the trailer. The location is ~_
shown on Map 24, Surface Facilities. In 1995, a temporary office trailer with dimensions of 24'
x 66' x 12' was leveled and blocked south of the administration building. There were no
. water and sewer hook-ups, and a 40' long buried conduit brought in power from an existing ~ ~~ =
APPRaV~D ` - ``.Z 0 2 2001
MR 01-171 2.05-17.2 02/19/01
