1. .
Following are seeding recommendation; for revegetating the disturbed stock
pile area prlmartiy, and for limited use on the steep sloped pit area:
___ i) Grass Seeding Mixture
' - - S ecies Broadcasted Rate ibs.
~,_,_ Variety Pure Live Seed/Ac.
~ ' Streambank wheatgrass Sodar ~,0
Ind tan ricegrass Paloma 8.0
' ' Russian wildrye Vlnall 6.0
Total ~ 21.0 lbs. PLS/acre
~.~ 2) The above seeding rate is for seed which is broadcasted and then raked.
If-the seed is drilled, the above rate should be reduced by one-half.
-~ 'j}-The planting medium may be deficient in plant nutrients. A soil
analysis should be obtained to determine the correct amount and kind
of fertilizer to apply.
' 4) A mulch should be applied after seeding, to improve plant survival
_ _. and conserve moisture. An application of 3,000 pounds air dry
' weight of straw mulch per acre should be applied, or a commercially
' prepared mulch material used. If straw is used, it should be
adequately crimped.or anchored into the soil.
$) The disturbed areas should be shaped and smoothed before seeding.
Slopes should be back-sloped to no steeper than a 3:1 and preferably
__ _. 6: i. The steep slopes of the pit area, do not lend themselves to
- back-sloping, and will in most cases 'have t,, be left steep.
'
6) Seeding should be done in the late fall (m id Oc tober on),
'
If you should need additional information, please feel free to contact us.

1
1
