The big sagebrush community is dominated by big sagebrush, rubber
rabbitbrush and mountain snowberry. The total vegetative cover is
65.2 with shrubs comprising 15.OA; and forbs 29.0%. Most of the
shrubs and forbs reach 0.5 meters high. Canopy cover in this
community is also approximately 50`K. The identical table numbers
are selected for this community. Since the cover is also
identical, a "C" factor of .066 is selected.
The meadow community is dominated almost entirely by graminoids.
The total cover for this community is 97.8 with sfirubs
comprising 0. 1`K of the cover. Forbs are 25~ and graminoids are
72.7. For these conditions, the "C" value selected from the
table is an extremely low .003.
Since the Rienau #2 and the Refuse sites are combinations of the
mountain shrub and big sagebrush communities, and since these
communities have identical "C" values, no weighted averages are
needed. The "C: factors are 0.066. As determined from the pre-
mining community map of Chapter K of the permit, the Northern #1
area which was subsequently disturbed did contain 1.5 acres of
the meadow community. The weighted average "C" value for this
area is calculated below:
Meadow 1.50 acres "C" .003
Mountain Shrub or Big Sage 10.24 acres "C" .066
Weighted average "C" _ .058
Erosion Control Practice Factor
This factor is only applicable when such practices such as
contouring, pits or ditches are used. These items would reduce
the amount of erosion for a given area. Since this is a pre-
mining estimate of erosion, and since these items were not
present at any location, this factor is not applicable.
M-i26
~fso fX3
