• SECTION 7.0 Miscellaneous
7.1 Vegetation Monitoring on Trapper Reclaimed Lands (2005)
Baseline vegetation monitoring on 121 acres of reclaimed Trapper rangelands in Ashmore, Derringer,
Flintlock and Hawken pits that had been initially topsoiled and seeded in 2004 was accomplished
during the 2005 Feld season by Kent Crofts, a local consultant. A total of 38 50-meter transects was
monitored. Vegetation parameters sampled during 2005 included ground cover, species composition
and woody stem density.
The second year of Phase III bond release sampling (SL-7) occurred on 186 acres of reclaimed
croplands in Ashmore, Browning and Colt pits, and on 594 acres of reclaimed rangelands in Ashmore,
Colt, Derringer and Enfield pits. IME (Kent Crofts) from Yampa, Colorado conducted the Phase III
sampling. The SL-7 application was presented to CDMG for review in October 2005.
Vegetation monitoring planned for 2006 will include routine sampling of new reclaimed areas and
selected older reclaimed areas.
7.2 Grazing of Reclaimed Lands
No cattle grazing occurred on Trapper reclaimed lands during 2005, nor is grazing planned for 2006.
7.3 2005 Revegetation Seed Mixes
• Section 3.6.3.5 of Trapper's Mining and Reclamation permit requires the Division be notified of the
seed mixtures proposed to be used each year. Tables 7-1 through 7-3 give the 2006 proposed
mixtures. Required seed packing slips are attached behind Table 7-3 for shipments received in 2005.
7.4 Trapper Mine Facilities
In 2005, Trapper Mine facilities upgraded included construction of a concrete pad for the replacement
of the Baby Doe dragline tub, which was subsequently removed, and the relocation of the explosives
magazine from Flintlock Pit to a location on the east side of the mine (refer to MR-201).
w~ yos
~DMG~LSVEGtexl7-0~
•
