EXHIBIT J -VEGETATION INFORMATION
For over fifty years, the proposed mine area has been used for crop production.
During the early years of irrigated production, the owners grew vegetables, hay,
corn, and grains. In later years, sugar beets were raised. During the last fifty
years corn and alfalfa were grown to feed the dairy herd that was present until
1996. For the last several years and currently, the crop on the property consists
of organic vegetables. The proposed mining will not disturb native vegetation.
Outside of the proposed disturbance area, there is a very small (i.e. a few
hundred square feet) wetland area in the northeast corner of the property. This
wetland is the result of seepage from a well. The wetland area is a small,
isolated area within the property and will not be mined. In addition, the large
cottonwoods on the property, along County Road 54G and in the residential area,
will remain undisturbed.
at
