Below 51 inches is sand and gravel. Permeability is moderate, and the available
water holding capacity is high. Runoff is slow, and the hazard of water erosion is
slight.
Loveland Clav Loam, 0 to 1 Percent Slopes
This soil occurs on low terraces and flood plains. The Loveland series consists
of deep, somewhat poorly drained soils that were formed in material weathered
from alluvium. Typically, the surface layer is a clay loam about 15 inches thick.
The upper part of the underlying material is 17 inches thick and is a clay loam.
The lower part to 60 inches or more is very gravelly sand. Permeability is slow
above a depth of 32 inches and very rapid below that depth. The available water
capacity is medium to high. Runoff is slow, and the hazard of water erosion is
slight.
Topsoil removed for mining will be stockpiled and reused for site revegetation.
There will be excess topsoil due to the ponds (which do not require revegetation
except for the shorelines). Excess topsoil may be sold.
39
