e
ESPEY, HUSTON & ASSOCIATES, INC.
•
protected by the following measures:
1. All impoundments having a storage volume of 20 acre-feet or more
will be drained before secondary mining commences beneath them
if it is deemed necessary to do so.
2. The structures will be monitored closely during subsidence.
3. After subsidence has ceased, the structures will be cazefully
inspected, repaired if damaged, and refilled if drained.
NCC has applied £or water rights (Chapter G) Water Division No. 5 Case
No. 80CW88 on April 28, 1980.
5.5 NATURAL GAS PIPELINES
Traversing east-west along the north boundazy of the lease is a 6-inch
natural gas line owned by Western Slope Gas Company. After studying the scope of
alternatives for subsiding or protecting the pipeline, it was determined that the line
may need to be relocated before secondary mining is performed beneath it.
The only secondary mining operations that will affect the line before
1987 will be those in the FF seam (see Exhibit S-2). Because of the present
economic conditions, NCC may decide to delay the relocation of the pipeline until
1987 and leave adequate support pillars in place in the FF seam to protect it against
subsidence. If this is not the case, the test azea shown on Exhibit S-2 will not be
used to determine whether or not secondary mining can be performed underneath
Curtis Creek. However, two test areas will be available on the east and west sides
of the second panel in the FF seam that will serve the same purpose.
Western Slope is awaze that mining operations will affect their pipeline,
• and a letter acknowledging this is presented in Figure S-6.
