KUIPER <br />State Engineer <br />SUBJECT: NIELSONS, INC. -CRAIG PIT, LA PLATA COUNTY, APPLICATION <br />FOR MINING AND RECLAMATION PERMIT <br />As requested by your office, we have reviewed the application for a gravel <br />pit south of Durango. The applicant has provided insufficient data to <br />enable us to determine the water requirements of the proposed operation, <br />The following additional information is required: <br />1 . What effects will excavation of 50 feet of gravel have on <br />the Coop Ditch and the well in SWl/4, NWl/4, Sec. 90, <br />T34N, R9W? <br />2. The Air Quality Review Section of the application states <br />that "dust abatement on the haul roads will be performed <br />by water truck" and that rock crushers "have been equipped <br />with dust abatement devices" . The source and consumptive <br />use of this dust control water as well as the water rights <br />to be utilized are not indicated. <br />3. The Soil Conservation Service report states that "all re- <br />seedings should be sprinkler irrigated for the first three <br />years" .
