The equipment to be used in mining is:
• Scrapers -topsoil removal, stockpiling and placement, overburden removal,
stockpiling and placement for reclamation
• Rubber Tired Front End Loader -sand and gravel removal, sand and gravel
stockpiling and removal after crushing and screening
• Trucks -hauling of sand and gravel
• Trackhoe -removal of sand and gravel if water is present in pit bottom
• Bulldozer -pushing gravel and rough grading of reclaimed slopes and wetland
areas
• Farm Tractor -preparation of soil surface for reclamation
The above list is general to provide the operator flexibility in mining in either wet or dry pit
conditions. The water table depth ranges from 5 to 12 feet in the proposed mining areas where
the overburden depth is less than 5 feet. Using the slough to east property line mining area as an
example, if the topsoil depth is one foot, the gravel depth 15 feet and the water table is 6 feet
below the surface, the pits are expected to be dry during the topsoil salvage operations and the
initial 5 feet of resource mining down to the water table. It is expected that a track mounted
excavator will be used to mine the gravel below the water table. The track excavator will
windrow the wet sand and gravel in the portion of the pit bottom above the water table to dry out.
After the sand and gravel dries, it will be loaded into trucks or on a conveyor by a front end
