RPPLEGRTE ~ 223 P02 OCT 21 '96 15:48
CIiANNEL FLOWS IN MARYLAND CREEK
Maryland Creek has a capacity of 300 cfs. The creek channel has a bottom width of 8 feet and a
4.5 foot depth. These calculations are shown on Exhibit 1 and a typical cross-section is shown
on Exhibit 2. The 100 yeaz 24 hour storm event will produce 269 cfs from the Mazylaad Cteek
basin. Therefore the channel is also the 100 yeaz floodplain.
The total volume of the two detention ponds is 2.3 acre-feet- A spillway at the southern most
ends of both ponds will serve as as overflow. Atypical spillway detail is shown is Exhibit 3 and
the detention ponds and direction of overflow is shown on Exhibit 4. The spillway will be 20
feet long and approximately 0.5 feet deep. It will be lined with concrete rubble with a m~mmum
diameter of 12 inches. Flow over the spillway will end up in the ditches along the entrance road
and eventually overtop the entrance road. These flows will then be conveyed under State
Highway 9 and into the Blue River.
