• Date that was collected as part of this study was of two levels of precision.
Data was either exact or estimated. Exact information included the identity and
number of species present in each plot, the identity and number of species present
within all the plots combined, the number plots each species was present in, the
identity of species present in the vicinity (about O.Sm) of plot, and the location of
certain plant individuals (usually those that were less common) in the plot. Estimated
data included vegetative data (dominant species within each plot, total vegetative cover,
species relative covers) and environmental data (level of grazing (general, specific
species), level of disturbance, slope, exposure, amount of bare ground, litter, and rock
cover).
SPECIES IDENTIFICATION:
• Voucher specimens were collected and confirmed or identified by Dr. William
A. Weber, retired Curator of the University of Colorado herbarium. Nomenclature
follows Dr. Weber's book "Colorado Flora: Western Slope; 1987; Colorado Associated
University Press, Boulder, Co." Although most plants were reasonably identifiable, a
number were not well developed and did not have flowering parts making their
identification less precise. Because the location of most of th individuals in each plot
was noted, individuals whose identification was uncertain can he followed and more
precisely determined in coming years. Thus, present data may he revised next year,
though changes are expected to he minor.
•
!~~Vised ~/i°l ~~
a
DEC 2 1 1998
/~y- .s 5
