Dan and Bernard Knott
Knott Land and Livestock Company, Inc.
Star Route
Oak Creek, CO 80467
June 7. 1998
Greg Lewicki
Greg Lewicki and Associates
1645 Court Place Suite 309
Denver, Colorado 80202
Dear Greg:
As owner of the surface area of the reclaimed Apex #2 Mine, I would like to
express Knott Land and Livestock Company, Ines support for the proposed
change to the vegetation standard, as outlined below.
Herbaceous Cover: 42%
Herbaceous Productivity: 900 Ibs/acre
Species Diversity: see below:
Using relative cover or production values for each species, the reclaimed areas
will have at least 3 perennial species with relative importance equal to or greater
than 3%, but with all species combined not to exceed 80% in relative
importance. Any one of the 3 species cannot exceed 55% in relative importance.
As shown by the SCS letter, it is unrealistic to expect that the reclaimed site could
achieve a cover of 70% under the given conditions of the pre-law mine and new site
conditions desires for final reclamation of the site.
Overall, I am happy with the reclamation and will continue to work with Sunland on
any items that arise.

Bernard Knott
~1
~J
-~;.'C 4 1 1998
Rey ~l~ol~s i8y-~~
