2. Similarly, request a reduction in the production standard so that it is <br />• equivalent to the standard of the Hillside community. Thus, the production standard <br />would be 500 pounds per acre. <br />3. Whatever the final values are that are chosen for the standards of the Valley <br />Bottom community, they should be identical to those of the Hillside community, even <br />if that means changing the latter (the species diversity standazd is presently the same <br />for both communities, and no woody stem density standazd applies to either). It is <br />important that the two communities be considered to be one sampling unit when a <br />statistical demonstration is carried out. The site is extremely small (less than 4 acres), <br />and the Hillside community is especially so. When considered as two sampling units, <br />the site does not lend itself to randomized sampling without the strong possibility of an <br />overlap in the transects, which would then introduce error into the final cover <br />estimate.
