Facilities within the lease area may include <br />an office building, change house, fuel storage and equipment storage and <br />maintenance buildings. <br />Most facilities outside the tract needed for the mining operations arc i.n <br />place, such as power lines, telephone cable and haul roads. Some minor <br />relocations of facilities will be needed within the lease area, such as <br />rerouting the existing county road and telephone cables. <br />A surface mining operation using scrapers, crawler tractors and trucl:s .i.s <br />proposed by the applicant. This method is currently employed on Kerr's <br />existing mine. USGS believes this is the best method to gain the mar,imum <br />economic recovery of the coal resources in this area.
