3-15
• 3.3.9 Evaluation of Revegetation
Success of revegetation will be determined by comparison of reclaimed areas to
reference areas using the same techniques used in the baseline vegetation inventory
(WRDC 1980b). Parameters compared will include vegetation canopy cover, annual
production, and woody plant density. For demonstrations of revegetation success, the
parameters of vegetation cover, herbaceous production and woody plant density would
be sampled to statistical adequacy and compared to the appropriate reference areas
(cover and production) and standards (woody plant density). Diversity comparisons will
be made based on relative cover values obtained from the statistically adequate
sampling. Statistical adequacy will be demonstrated using formulas recommended in
the division's surrent bond release guideline. Statistical tests of success will also follow
• the procedures recommended in the bond release guideline.
The following success standards will be used to evaluate revegetation.
Densi Greasewood Shrubland
Shadscale Shrubland
Big Sagebrush Shrubland
Juniper Woodland
500 stems per acre
500 stems per acre
500 stems per acre
1,500 stems per acre
Diversi A minimum of three perennial species shall each provide a minimum of 39'0
relative cover.
