SECTION 2.0 Annual Hydrology Report for Trapper Mine (1988)
Section 4.8.5 of our mining permit requires we provide the CMLRD with an annual hydrology report. We
are submitting both surtace and ground water summaries for 1988.
2.1 Climatological Data
We are submitting the 1988 cooperative summaries and a historical monthly precipitation summary (1979-
1989). Trapper has been the official NOAA station near Craig since 1979.
2.2 PR Dewaterina Data for 1988
During 1988 we pumped 114.76 acre-feet of water from our active pits. Attached are tables 2.2 to show the
monthly pumping hours and corresponding water volumes for each pit.
WeWe also included the data from the Derringer Pit dewatering well that was installed in 1988. That well
pumped another 15.93 acre-feet from the boxcut toe and spoil piles. A second dewatering well was
installed in late 1988 but wasn't activated until 1989. Well designs and pump specifications for both wells
are attached.
Although the 114 acre-feet represent an 181°,6 increase in dewatering over 1987, that is directly related to
• dewatering the inactive Colt pit prior to restart of mining. There was no dewatering necessary for Ashmore
or Enfield pits during 1988, and Derringer pit dewatering was similar to 1987.
2.3 Mining Advancement and Ash Disposal Sites
We have Included the revised Annual Hydrology Report (AHR) map for 1988 which shows the following
mining activities through year end:
a. Project-to~ate (PTD) utility waste disposal.
b. PTD pit advancement.
c. PTD proximal montoring and dewatering wells, plus spoil seeps >5 gpm.
2.4 Monitoring Points PTD
Rather than submitting another map with this report, we refer the Division to Map M52 which shows our
operations hydrologic monitoring points. During 1988 we added wells GD-3, GF-11 and GLUX-1.
Operations added the two dewatering wells in Derringer pit. Miss Thompson has requested we plot all the
NPDES sites on the revised AHR map (Section 2.3); however, due to the distances from the mining areas
and map scales, this is not feasible. All sites are on Map M-52.
•
