I ~ 1.5 feet over 3.5 acres, resulting in 8470 cy of overburden. This will be used to cover 3.5 acres of
final graded azea of Strip 3. The flat azeas of Strips 3 and 4 aze a combined 5.6 acres. Therefore, after
the mining of Strip 4, the total flat area still requiring overburden placement aze 4.9 acres (from
Strips 1,2 and old pit) + 5.6 acres (Strips 3 and 4) - 3.5 acres (reclaimed in Strip 3) = 7.0 acres
remaining. This area will be reclaimed with the 14888 cy from the overburden stockpile. This will
provide approximately 1.3 feet of thickness over this azea. Excess soil, as described in the section
above, may be used to supplement the overburden.
6. Water Information. Rights and Augmentation
All water rights issues such as availability of water for this operation, consumption rates, dust
control, etc. is presented in Exhibit G -Water Information.
~ . 7. Schedule of Operations
Mining operations will only occur as dictated by demand up to the maximum rates described eazlier
in the mine plan. Mining, screening and processing will take place in a 4-6 week period each yeaz
and product will be sold from this activity throughout the yeaz, although little is sold in winter
months. The operator will not have night gravel mining operations, although minor truck activity or
repairs may occur after hours.
8. Montrose County Impacts and Environmental Impacts
The past operation has had a special use permit by prior right from Montrose County since 1977,
which was amended in 2002 for the additional land placed in the permit area. The January 2006 new
permit is subject to an amendment to the Special Use Permit in the County. There have been no
complaints from this operation since that time. The current mining operation is basically invisible to
the surrounding azea to the west, north, south and east due to its location in the Ellison Gulch
Bellgazdt Pit 1/06 20
