RESPONSE:
Peerless Resources, Inc. has completed the re-design of Diversion Ditch
No. 1 for the 100-year, 24-hour precipitation event. The capacity of
'the diverted channel is estimated to be at least the capacity of the
unmodified stream channel. The downstream channel has been previously
modified and cannot be compared with the existing designs. The
cross-section of the upstream channel entering the diversion ditch
• indicates that the design channel is as large as that previously in
place.
Design calculations for Diversion Ditch No. 1 are set forth in the
Drainage and Sediment Control Plan Appendix (Appendix 1) attached with
this technical adequacy response. The drainage basin for Diversion
Ditch No. 1 are shown on the Mine Facilities Map (Map 12) and the
Regional Hydrology Map (Map 6).
4. If, in the new Coal Gulch channel design, segments will continue to
be used, then a map delineating the segments wil be necessary.
