CJ <br />RESPONSE: <br />There are no water supply intakes, irrigation ditches, reservoirs, or <br />wells located in Coal Gulch within the permit or adjacent areas. <br />There are some irrigation ditches and a small reservoir ("fish pond") <br />located in Sections 15 and 16, Range 10 West, Township 35 North along <br />Lightner Creek. These irrigation ditches are utilized by the residents <br />along Lightner Creek and will not be affected by the planned mining <br />activities of Peerless Resources, Inc. The location of these irrigation <br />structures and the fish pond found in Sections 15 and 16 are shown on <br />the Geology/Hydrology Map (Map 7). The wells found in Sections 15 and <br />16 are likewise shown on the Geology/Hydrology Map (Map 7). There are <br />no domestic or municipal water supply intakes located within a one mile <br />radius of the area to be affected by Peerless Resources, Inc. <br />14. Section 4.05.13 needs to be revised to reflect a s <br />water monitoring program fort a ife of mining. <br />• RESPONSE: <br />Subsurface water encountered within the mining operation of Peerless <br />Resources, Inc. will be channeled to an underground sump for use in the <br />mining operations. In order to respond to Division concerns, Peerless <br />Resources, Inc. will analyze this subsurface water in the sump on a <br />quarterly basis for the elements listed in the Groundwater Sampling <br />Guidelines of the Division. If no problems are encountered after a year <br />of monitoring (4 quarters), Peerless Resources, Inc. will petition the <br />Division for reduction or elimination of this groundwater monitoring. <br />As mentioned in Section 4.05.13, Peerless Resources, Inc. will monitor <br />any discharge from the sedimentation pond as required by .an NPDES <br />permit. <br />In addition, for a period of one year, Peerless Resources, Inc. will <br />. monitor on a quarterly basis those stations sampled during March of 1985 <br />and shown on the Mine Facilities Map {Map 12) and the Regional Hydrology <br />-26- <br />
