Known Cultural Resources <br />In the project area: Historic Town of Bowie (SDT122) on east edge of survev block. <br />In the general region: The Historic Town of Bowie (SDT1221 and the Associated King Mine <br />SSDT1053). Overviews of the prehistory and history of the region are provided in the Colorado <br />Historical Society's publications entitled "West-Central Colorado Prehistoric Context (Reed19841 and <br />"Colorado Plateau Country Historic Context" (Husband. 19841. <br />26. Expected Results: No cultural resources were expected because town site was bulldozed by <br />Coors. owner of the mine durine the late 1970's and early 1980's. <br />VI. STATEMENT OF OBJECTIVES <br />27. The Qurpose of the study was to identify and record all cultural remains over 50 years old within the <br />areas of potential impact- to assess their sienificance and eligibility to the National Register of Historic <br />• Places~NRHP). and make recommendations concerning managgment. ffpossible. the remains will <br />add to our understanding of the~rehistory and history of the region. <br />VII. FIELD METHODS <br />28. Definitions: Site Sites were defined by the presence of six or more artifacts and/or a sis;nif cant <br />feature(s) indicative of patterned human activity that were determined to be at least 50 veazs old. <br />IF Single activity remains usually represented by the presence of 1 to 5 artifacts apparently of <br />surficial nature. <br />29. Describe Survey Method: A 100 oercentpedestriancu1tural resources survey of the 2 5-acreglot was <br />conducted by walking N-S transects spaced at 15-20 meters <br />VIII. RESULTS <br />30.
