No county roads will be
used for the pit.
TRUCKS
A variety of trucks will be used to haul materials from the Line Camp Pit, including single dump
trucks, semi-dump trucks, and trucks with pups. Most commonly used will be dump trucks
with pups. Average haul for all vehicles will be 25 tons per vehicle. All trucks are properly
permitted for highway use and meet weight requirements for county and state highways. All
drivers have CDL (Commercial Drivers License) if required for the vehicle being operated.
TRAFFIC COUNTS AND SCHEDULES
Based on average production and haul days, the traffic counts are estimated as shown in the
table below. Haul days available may vary from year to year, based on weather conditions,
road conditions, and truck availability. Hauling hours will be limited in accordance with
Montezuma County high impact conditional use permit.
Annual production
(tons) Haul days Daily haul (tons) Round trips per
da t~ Number of trucks
re uiredit
200,000 100 2,000 80 8 trucks
200,000 180 1,100 44 4-5 trucks
150,000 100 1,500 60 6 trucks
150,000 180 830 33 3.4 trucks
145,000 100 1,450 58 6 trucks
145,000 180 800 32 3~4 trucks
140,000 100 1,400 56 6 trucks
140,000 180 780 31 3~ trucks
135 000 100 1,350 54 5~ trucks
135,000 180 750 30 3 trucks
DOT 1998 traffic counts (latest data available) indicate this would increase daily truck traffic
from 260 to between 320 and 340, or about 27%, during the 90-100 days each year materials
are hauled from the site. Total traffic would increase by about 5% on a daily basis, assuming
that traffic from this oit is in addition to. and not reDlacina. traffic from other pits in the valley.
Highway Ref Pt Length
miles Year Total Single
Trucks Comb.
Trucks %trucks DVMT Segment
145A 17.101 6.394 1998 1,304 90 171 20.08 ' 8,338 RD NE CO RD 36
DUST CONTROL DURING HAULS
Dust control practices to be used in the pit, including the access road, will be based on pit
traffic, and will include traffic control, water spraying (see Exhibit G), and use of dust control
agents such as magnesium chloride brine (magwater) or ligneous sulfide, as needed. When
hauling material less than'/,-inch, haul trucks will be controlled to prevent dust, including
tarping (chemically or physically) or wetting of material in accordance with state and local
requirements. If necessary, hauling will be curtailed during extreme high wind conditions.
tc Based on an average of 25 tons per vehicle, for planning purposes.
t t Based on average 1-hour round trip and average 10-hour day, for planning purposes.
Four States Aggregates, LLC 30 DEC 2000
Application for Permit: Line Camp Pit FSA-LCP-D1-001
