The mining and reclamation as planned should produce
no significant indirect or direct negative impacts.
1. Sources of Ground Water on site or potentially affected by operations on site: None.
There are no wells on the site. The following recorded wells are in formations (alluvial aquifer)
to be disturbed by mining operations on this site.2 Mining at this site will be limited to depths of
approximately 20 feet below existing ground level, or approximately 7195 or higher. This places
most mining (depending on season) below the water table.3 However, based on locations
(greater than 600 feet from the perimeter of the proposed free water surface) and the
relationship to the river, no impact on any of these wells is anticipated.
Table G-1. Sources of Surface Water on site or potentially affected by operations on site:
There are two sources of surface water on the site: the Dolores River itself and the Home Ditch.
The nearest sources of water are:
• Home Ditch, which water source is a diversion from the Dolores River, approximately 4200
feet to the north of the permit area.
• Haycamp Reservoir to the east (approximately 700 feet above pit), discharging to the
Dolores River below this point. Source of water is runoff from rain and possibly springs in
the Dakota Sandstone.
• Taylor Reservoir to the west (approximately 800 feet above pit), discharging to the Dolores
River below this point. Source of water is runoff from rain and possibly springs in the Dakota
Sandstone.
The Dolores River will not receive surface drainage directly from the affected area, once initial
stripping has been done. All discharges, including storm/dewatering, will be done after
treatment in a settling basin to remove sediment prior to discharge.
ZReview of Colorado State Engineer records, 29 August 2000.
s Based on test holes dug at the site in May 2000.
Four States Aggregates, LLC 30 DEC 2000
Application for Permit: Line Camp Pit ESA-LCP-D1-001
