<br />TAB 1 <br />Yoast Mine Permit Summary <br />Introduction <br />Seneca Coal Company ISCCI has operated the Seneca I, Seneca II, and Seneca II-W Mines since <br />1965. All three of these mines are located in Routt County east and/or south of Hayden, Colorado. <br />The Yoast Mine is located approximately 4 miles southwest of Seneca II Mine, 3,5 miles east of <br />Seneca II-W Mine, and 6.5 miles southeast of Hayden (see Figure 1-11. Like Seneca II and II-W, coal <br />from Yoast will be hauled over county and private roadways by a private hauler to the Hayden Station <br />Powerplant operated by Public Service Company of Colorado, Pacificorp, and Salt River Agricultural <br />Improvement and Power District. Haulage distance is approximately eight miles each way. <br />Permitting History <br />SCC has updated the accompanying application through Permit Revision IPR) 01 to implement surface <br />mining operations at the Yoast Mine through year 2004. SCC, a subsidiary of Peabody Coal <br />• Company, is the owner and operator of the Yoast Mine. SCC was incorporated on January 4, 1994. <br />SCC has operated at the Seneca II Mine and is currently operating at the Seneca II-W Mine under <br />Permits C-80-005 and C-82-057 issued by the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board. Together, <br />the mines produce approximately 1 .5 million tons of bituminous coal annually. Production at Seneca II <br />Mine has ceased and all strippable coal reserves have been removed. The dragline was moved to the <br />Yoast Mine area and commenced production in 1996. Production is also continuing at Seneca II-W <br />Mine. <br />~~ <br />The coal from the Seneca II-W and Yoast Mines is hauled by truck to the Hayden Station Powerplant. <br />The powerplant, owned and operated by Public Service Company of Colorado, Pacificorp, and Salt <br />River Agricultural Improvement and Power District, has one 166 megawatt Inetl unit and one 250 <br />megawatt (nett unit. <br />Revised 2/99 <br />
