• ~ks and Gesso, LLC
EXHIBIT D -MINING PLAN
Overview
The Applicant is proposing to recover approximately 750,000 tons (500,000 cubic
yards) of sand and gravel resources, over a two year period beginning in the fall
of 2001, from this historic, 34 acre mining location and to reclaim the site as a
water storage reservoir. Due to past mining operations, the mine area is now a
closed depression with highwalls near property boundaries. The floor of the
existing depression is approximately 25 to 30 feet below ground surface; and the
Applicant expects to remove another 8 to 14 feet of residual deposit, before
encountering bedrock. Dry mining methods will be employed; and recovered
material will be transported directly from the site, or it will be sorted, screened,
using mobile wash and screening equipment and then transported off site. The
post-mining land use will be lined water storage of approximately 1,000 acre feet,
to be conveyed to the City of Brighton. Following mining activity, slopes will be
backfilled to at a 3 tot grade from 5 feet above to 10 feet below the reservoir's
anticipated water line and to a 2 to 1 grade below that. The reservoir will be lined
with native clay material, taken from underlying strata, and settled fines from
washing operations, if available. Site reclamation is presented in detail in Exhibit
F of this submittal.
Mining Seouence
The existing mined depression will be substantially dewatered before beginning
mining operations. A ramp into the excavated area of the mine will be
constructed as shown by the accompanying Mine Plan Map. When mining
operations begin, projected for October 2001, dewatering trenches will be
constructed as necessary; however the existing grade slopes towards the
southwest corner of the excavated area, and only minimal trenching may be
124 Estates -Regular 112 Application 01029.WD
124`" Estates Partners 5 August 2001
