Adjacent areas east of U.S. 85 are also intensively used by humans for agriculture and other purposes,
including equipment and materials storage and high-density residential occupancy (mobile home park).
U.S. 85 is a heavily traveled highway between the site and the South Platte.
Nearby areas west of U.S. 85, adiacent to the river, also support intensive human activity, and existing
sand and gravel mining occurs along nearby river segments.
For these reasons, it is reasonable to conclude that any species vulnerable to high levels of human activity
and noise, such as would be associated with mining, are already absent from otherwise suitable onsite or
offsite habitats or have habituated to the human activity and would be unaffected by the additional
disturbance.
SW TKO Joint Venture, LLC. -Adams Sand and Gravel Mine -112 Reclamation Permit Amendment page 26
