•
TDS plot for this well shows that TDS has been fairly steady the last
three years. Well GC2 was not required for monitoring between March
1977 and September 1985, although some water-level elevations were
collected. Recent samples indicate an increase in TDS for the Third
White Sandstone water in this area. This increase has to be natural
due to the large distance from mining to this area. The third well,
GC 3, at this site monitors the alluvial aquifer and TDS values from
this well have typically varied over a larger range because this
aquifer is influenced more by changes in recharge conditions (see
Figure B-7).
Well GD1 is the water supply well for the mine and is completed
• in the 20 Mile Sandstone. The TDS plot (Figure B-B) for water from
this well shows that the values have been similar for the last three
years. Well GD2 is completed in the QR aquifer downgradient of recent
mining of these seams in the D Pit. The TDS measurements (see Figure
B-9) for this well show a fairly steady concentration since 1983
indicating that mining in the QR aquifer has not affected water
quality downgradient in this area.
The GE cluster of wells are used to monitor the QR, HI, and Third
and Second White Sandstone aquifers (see Figures B-10, B-11, and
B-12). TDS concentrations for the QR and HI aquifers in this area
have been fairly steady with time with no significant trends. TDS has
averaged approximately 500 mg/1 for the last few years in well GE3. A
• considerable variation in TDS has been observed in the last few years.
3-3
