• Attachment 3
Estimated Costs of Reclamation
Reclamation consists of replacing overburden, top soil, and
reseeding an area of approximately 9 acres. The equipment
estimated to be used to reclaim the site includes a Cat 623 self
loading scraper and a medium size dozer such as a Cat D6.
Reclamation costs are estimated as follows:
Replace stockpiled overburden on pit slopes at an average depth of
six inches and spreading the remaining overburden on the plant site
and stockpile area. Assuming average depth of overburden at
eighteen inches over a nine acre site, approximately 22 ,000 cubic
yards must be replaced.
Assume replace 4 , 000 cubic yards per day with two Cat 623 scrapers
and one D6 dozer.
Hourly cost of 623 90. 00
Hourly cost of 623 90. 00
Hourly cost of D6 60. 00
Total hourly costs 240. 00
Daily costs/ 8 hr day 1,920.00
Estimate 5. 5 days, costs for overburden 10, 560. 00
® Replace stockpiles topsoil on pit slopes, plant site and stockpile
at an average depth of six inches. Top soil to be replaced is
estimated at 7 ,250 cubic yards. Using the same equipment for
replacing overburden allow two days to replace the top soil.
Estimate for replacing topsoil 3 ,840.00
Estimate for seed at $100. 00/acre 900. 00
Estimate for tractor and seed drill
at $25. 00/hr for 8 hrs. 200. 00
Total estimate for reclamation 15, 500. 00
