The native <br />veyet~rtion is mainly grasses and scattered pinyon pine. Elevation is 7,200 <br />to 8,500 feet. The average annual precip.ttation is 14 to 18 inches, the <br />average annual air teir~erature .is 43 to 45 degrees F, and the average <br />qJ ~%6g <br />frost-Free peziod is~~ to~30 days. <br />This unit .is about 65 percent Troutdale soil and about 7~0 percent <br />pinyon.and_3ur~tper-teas' (Teen-chained-r]own. <br />~a•~%~f r -J ~'~t ' <br />Rayert soil. The Troutdale soil is mainly in grass~~areas, the Rogert soil <br />is on hills and zidges,u^a ~<^;~^ ,-•~^,m~, ~ (.:kr-Irti~rs ne--areast+~- <br />Included .in this unit .is about 10 percent deep Adel loam in <br />dra.inacleways. Also included is about 5 percent granitQ or gneiss Rick <br />outcrop. The surface of bedrock is genezally just slightly exposed. <br />Tt~e Troutdale soil is moderately deep and well drained. It formed in <br />alluvi~an over residuum derived dominantly from schist and gneiss. Slope .is <br />2 to 15 percent. Typically, the surface layer is dark grayish brown loam <br />about i .inches thick. The subsoil is sandy clay loam about 15 inches thick. <br />Soft, weathered schist is at a depth of 22 inches. The soil is neutral to a <br />depth of 14 inches and mildly alkaline below that depth. <br />Permeab.il.ity of the Troutdale soil is moderate. Available water <br />capac.it:~ .is low, Effective rooting depth .is 20 to 40 inches. Runoff .is <br />slow to rapid, and the hazard of water erosion is slight to high. <br />Thf~ Rogert soil .is shallow and well drained. It formed .in residuum <br />derived dominantly fran gneiss and granite. Slope is 5 to 15 percent. <br />Typ.icall.y, the surface layer .is grayish brown very gravelly sandy loam about <br />5 inches: thick. The substratum is extremely gravelly sandy loam about 12 <br />inches t.h.ick. Gneiss .is at a depth of 17 inches. The soil .is neutral. <br />
