2.04.5 General Description of Hydrology and Geology
•
This application provides a description of geology, hydrology and ground
and surface quality and quantity on all lands within the permit area,
the adjacent area and the general area, as defined in Section 1.04
(DEFIPIITIONS) of the Colorado Regulatory Program.
Because of the past surface and underground mining activities along Coal
Gulch, a good general knowledge of the geology of the area has been
developed. Details on the geology of the permit and adjacent areas are
set forth in Section 2.04.6. The regional geology is shown graphically
on the Regional Geology Map (Map 5).
The "general area" with respect to hydrology is defined by Section 1.04
as that topographic basin that surrounds the area to be mined during the
life of the operation. The planned Peerless Resources operation is a
continuation of the mining that has been conducted in the general area
• on either side of Coal Gulch. Information on the hydrology of the
general, adjacent, and permit areas is set forth in Section 2.04.7.

2.04-9
