This monitering program is conducted under the require-
ments of permit no. 79-177.
. CYCC has concluded that after several years of monitoring the information
derived from the program is inconsequential and trends appear to be related to
the inherent stream variability rather than the effects of coal mining. The
Colorado Division of i•lildlife feels the existing data is sufficient and they
strongly recommend that no further sampling be done.
Based on CYCC's results and the recommendation by the CDOI'! to eliminate the
aquatic monitoring, the Division will not require additional macrophyte, fish
or benthic invertebrate sampling. Therefore, CYCC's request to eliminate the
aquatic monitoring program is approved.
-Please call me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Sandra L.
