EXHIBIT H -WILDLIFE INFORMATION
This information follows the requirements as outlined in Section 6.4.8.
3. Describe the game and non-game resources on and in the vicinity of the application area,
include:
(a) a description of the significant wildlife resources on the affected land:
The Weld County Open Space Plan identifies the area along St. Vrain Creek, approximately
%: mile north of this site as key riparian habitat and bluffs. Ongoing agricultural production
on this property limits its value as a resource for wildlife.
(b) seasonal use of the area:
This property is currently in managed as irrigated agricultural land for production of com,
beets and grass. This limits the value for seasonal use of wildlife. Vegetation adjacent to the
irrigation ditches may be utilized for cover for birds and small animals during the winter
months. However the ongoing operation and maintenance of the ditches and the farm would
discourage wildlife during the growing season.
(c) a description of the general effect during and after the proposed operation on the
existing wildlife of the area, including but not limited to temporary and permanent lass
of food and habitat, interference with migratory routes, and the general effect on the
wildlife from increased human activity, including noise.
It is not anticipated that the mining and associated activities will result in temporary or
permanent loss of habitat for area wildlife. The area adjacent to this property to the west and
north has been subject to ongoing disturbance by other gravel mining activities.
Conversations with the Colorado Division of Wildlife regarding disturbance of wildlife due
to the activity and noise associated with mining have indicated that the area wildlife has
adapted to the level of activity in the area.
The proposed reclamation of this property will add diversity to the habitat including
additional surface water and vegetation associated with the shoreline of the proposed lakes.
Post mining impacts to area wildlife will be dependent on the level of urbanization
associated with annexation and development of this property and adjacent properties
contemplated for development by the adopted land use plans for this area.
Mrnrng Proposes! jor the Shores - MLRB 112 Permrr 33
