4) Water Lost with the Material Hauled Off-Site
Hall-Irwin estimates they will mine 8,000,000 tons of material. It is anticipated that
mining will begin in the Spring of 1998 and it will take 25 years to remove the material
and reclaim the site. Annual production will depend on the demand for construction
material and may impact the total life of the mining operation on the site. Based on these
assumptions water lost with the mined product will total 9.4 acre-feet per year.
(5) Total Depletions During Mining
The total depletions during Phase I -Mining of Pond l are 46.38 acre-feet per year. [t is
anticipated that it will take approximately 18 years to mine Phase 1.
The total depletions during Phase 2 - Mining of Pond 2 are 254.77 acre-feet per year. It
is anticipated that it will take approximately 7 years to mine Phase 2.
Depletions Ajter Reclamation
The final reclamation plan joins Pond l and Pond 2 into one pond with a total surface area of
112.4 acres at the high water line (see Reclamation Plan Map). Total depletions aRer mining wilt
result from evaporation from the pond and will total 283.58 acre-feet.
3. Indicate the projected amount from each of the sources of water to supply the project water
requirements for the mining operation and reclamation.
It is anticipated that all water for the operation of the site will be provided by water rights
associated with the historic agricultural production on this site. The applicant is in the process of
preparing a temporary substitute supply plan that will address the source and amount of water
from each water right associated with the property and how each of those water rights will be
utilized in the mining operation. We will forward a copy of the application once it has been
submitted to the State Engineer for review.
4. Affirm that the Applicant has acquired or applied for a National Pollutant Discharge
Elimination System (NPDES) permit from the Water Quality Control Division at the
Colorado Department of Health and Environmental Services.
The applicant has applied for a NPDES Permit from the Water Quality Control Division at the
Colorado Department of Health and Environmental. We will forward a copy of the permit upon
receipt.
Hall-/resin Mining Proposes! jor the Shores - ~Y1LR8 / 1 Z Permit 29
