<br />EXHIBIT D -MINING PLAN <br />This section follows the requirements outlined in Section 6.4.5. <br />A. Background <br />The purpose of this application is to obtain authorization for Hall-irwin Construction Company <br />(Hall-Irwin) to mine, process and sell sand and gravel and to operate concrete, recycling and <br />asphalt batch plants at the Booth property. Hall-Irwin wilt mine approximately 125 acres of a ' <br />309-acre parcel located near Firestone, Colorado. Please see the attached index map <br />(Exhibit B) for the specific location of the area to be mined. V pt <br />B. Operational Methods ~ / <br />a. Description of mining method: <br />The applicant will begin mining at the southwest comer of the property and proceed north <br />through the site in sections to minimize the amount of land disturbed at any one time. The <br />site will basically be mined from south to north, starting at the point Furthest from the <br />processing area and working towards it. Atypical section will be about I S acres in size. <br />Only one section or portions of two sections and the processing area will be disturbed <br />during any phase of mining. Large portions of the site will be reclaimed years before the <br />last section is mined. Please refer to the Mining Plan Map for details on the phasing order. <br />Site preparation <br />Initial disturbance of the property will include construction of perimeter screening berms, <br />site entry landscaping and preparation for the processing site. <br />Perimeter berms will be installed along Weld County Road (WCR) 9 3/4 and <br />portions of WCR 24 3/4. The applicant will plant trees along a portion of WCR 24 to <br />help screen the site and allow historic drainage and flood waters to pass through the <br />site unobstructed. <br />The area adjacent to the intersection will be landscaped as an entry feature for the <br />mining operation and include signage. Once mining is complete, the signage will be <br />removed and the area will serve as the gateway to the future residential development <br />proposed for the property. <br />The processing site will be elevated out of the 100-year floodplain to allow historic <br />Flood drainage to pass through the site and around the processing equipment without <br />impacting the processing equipment. <br />Hal!-Irwin Mining Proposal jor the Shares - MLRB 111 Permit 12 <br />
