n
~~
As indicated in the previously submitted application, an
• overall slope of 20 degrees (2.75H:1V) will provide a stable
slope. However, to facilitate slope reclamation and revege-
tation while minimizing erosion potential, a slope of 2.5H:1V
with 30 foot wide benches has been selected, providing an
overall final slope of 3H:1V or 18.2 degrees. The 30 foot
wide benches are provided to improve the slope stability and
' to provide ample clearance for reclamation activities.
5.3 Lateral Stability through the Partially Mined Coal Seam
General
The final configuration of the refuse pile will accommodate
• approximately five million tons of refuse at the final eleva-
tion of 6880 feet, instead of 9 million tons as reported in
the previously submitted application. An elevation versus
volume curve is shown on Drawing No. MG-R-C-001 for refer-
ence.
In the previously submitted application it is stated that the
refuse pile will impose an additional maximum pressure of 300
psi (P. 35 of that report). It should be noted that the
maximum overburden depth imposed by the final refuse pile
elevation will be on the order of only 160 feet or 135 psi
instead of 300 feet and 300 psi.

20
