• cussed previously and shown on Drawing No. MG-R-C-003, the
perimeter channels will be riprapped and adequately sized for
this velocity.
4.5 Temporary Collection Channels
Temporary collection channels are incorporated to provide ad-
ded protection for the refuse disposal placement areas. It
is planned to provide three temporary collection channels.
The initial channel will be constructed near the planned
backslope for Bench 1 (elevation 6710'). This channel will
intercept runoff from north of the existing permanent diver-
sion channel and the refuse pile construction area when it
reaches elevations above 6695'. A portion of this collection
channel will drain toward the east side and the remainder
will drain toward the west side.
The computed 100 year-24 hour peak discharges for the ini-
tial, intermediate and final collection channels are: 15, 23
and 30 cfs respectively. A triangular channel, 2 feet deep,
with side slopes of 2H:1V on one .side, and 4H:1V on the other
side and a grade of one percent will carry 6S cfs, more than
adequate for all cases outlined above. Detailed computations
are presented in Appendix A.
•
15
