Revegetation Monitorl ng <br />Monrtorr ny of rev egetat ed areae at the Seneca II Mtne will consist of both qualitative evaluations <br />and quant It ative measurements. Qualitative evaluations will be ra aied out at least annually during <br />the growing season, while quantitative measurements and evaluations will be on a more periodic basis. <br />Qualitative evaluations will consist of visual observation,: of newly seeded areas in order [o <br />evaluate seeding success, monitor for excessive ril li nq and qulLyi ng, determine The success of <br />applied reU ama[SCn pro ctSces, Sdentify pot ent lal noxious weed problems, and es tl mate the degree of <br />species establishment through natural regeneration. Qual Stative evaluations may extend past the <br />first several years for areas of new rill and gully repair, areas of noxious weed coot [ol, areas <br />requiring restricted lot erseed ing or reseeding, or areas that have been planted to trees avid shrubs. <br />As stated above, monitoring through quantitative measurements will be rattled out Fie riodically on <br />reveget at ed areas ai the Seneca II Mlne. Revegetation monitorLng of a given area of reclamation will <br />be identl fi ed by year of in It ial seeding, and conducted during the second or third growl ng season, <br />and'perlcdically thereafter (every 2-4 years until bond Ss .re.l ea sed. Reference, area sampling may <br />be conducted coincidentally with revegeta[ion monitoring. For purposes of this discussion, <br />quantitative sampling during the last two censecuti ve years cf the ex [ended liability period is not <br />considered monico ri ng. The daCa and results from the quantitative mcni toeing program will be <br />provided to [he Division by the March 30 of the following year as part of the Annual Reclamation <br />Report. <br />The following discussion details parameters to be sampled, sampling methodologies and sampling <br />intensity for the reveg et at ion monitoring program. <br />Sampling Parame[ors. <br />Cover. Cover data wi 11 include cover by species (both absolute and to Lative valuesl, Coral <br />vegetative cover and cover values for lister, rock and bare ground. Mosses and lichens will be <br />included rf present. <br />Production. Production data will be collected as total t.e rbaceous. In cases where additional <br />composition information is desired, production will be roll ec[el by herbaceous growth forms. Shrub <br />prod uc[ion will not be collected.
