It is our opinion that there have been major 10 year storm events at the quarry since this
time. The site has been visited a number of times by our people, the land owners along with the DMG
staff. There has not been any major erosion or sedimentation observed other than the minor soil
slippage below the old scale location. This slippage occurred during a wet two month period just prior to
the Lachell site investigation. In addition, there has been an infilling of the sediment pond over a 5 to 10
year period of time at the entrance.
Under the current conditions on the site we would hope that it is realized that time and experience are
the best indicators of what is to be expected in regards to drainage and sedimentation on the site as it
exists today. We feel that the site is generally stable even though there has been some infilling of some
of the sediment structures and isolated erosion as a result of the dormancy of our activities. The
proposed improvements presented will allow the upgrading of the drainage and sediment control
features. We ask that the existing sized channel provided under the January 14,1997 packet be allowed.
Should we be required to install the increased sized channel as indicated in Allen's Memo we will have to
remove a larger pars of the entrance road possibly resulting in inaccessibility of the site.
We have reviewed and revised the previous drainage and sediment control submittal based on Allen"s
Memo and our conference call of February 12th, 1997 with you, Allen Sorenson and Carl Mount. We
hope that it best depicts our plans to reduce or eliminate the drainage and sediment impacts to Wildcat
Gulch. Should you have any questions as to the plan, please feel free to contact our offices
inc rely,
..
John Hickman
Land and Resources Manager
cc: Mike Sheahan 8 Dean Massey
,Jc'~°rr ~vtC7~ tc~i-4-rYa,,, ~uA4w
n7~,~~ j~Pd c r ~-.~ ~

,t ~ r.
A Reolanr!
