1
EXHIBIT B
SITE DESCRIPTION
Vegetation and Soil Characteristics
' The Bates-Hunter mine site is located in an area that has been
extensively disturbed by past mining operations. Additionally,
' the area is located within the city limits of Central City. In
the areas that have been disturbed by past mining operations
there is no topsoil to salvage. Other areas around the Bates-
Hunter mine are paved city roads or is a parking lot for mine
employees.
The Golden Gilpin mill site is located in an area that has been
' extensively disturbed by past milling operations. The tailings
ponds that are proposed in this plan are situated in the same
place where past operators have historically located the Golden
Gilpin mills tailings ponds. There is no topsoil to salvage in
' the proposed tailings storage area and there are no plans to
disturb any additional land in the mill area.
' In general, if any topsoil is encountered during the proposed
operations, the topsoil will be salvaged and stockpiled for
reclamation purposes. Topsoil stockpiles will be seeded and
' stabilized to eliminate wind and water erosion.
The vegetation in the Bates-Hunter mine site is limited. As the
mine :is located within the city limits of Central City, there are
no trees or shrubs that will be destroyed by the proposed mining
activity.
' The Golden Gilpin mill site is situated in an area that has been
extremely disturbed by past mining activity. No trees or shrubs
will be destroyed by the proposed milling operations.
' In an effort to improve the visual impact of both the Bates-
Hunter and Golden Gilpin sites, CCCM intends to plant a number of
trees at both sites. Additionally, at the Golden Gilpin mill
' site CCCM intends to stabilize and reclaim the south bank of
North Clear Creek by seeding the bank slope with an MLRD approved
grass mixture.
Wildlife Impact
' No Department of Wildlife evaluation is now required to obtain a
Limited Impact Operation Permit. Regardless, both the Golden
Gilpin mill and the Bates-Hunter mine are located within the city
' limits of Blackhawk or Central City, respectively. Therefore, no
significant impact to wildlife is anticipated.

' B 1
