EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
A jurisdictional wetland delineation was conducted July 21 and 24, 2000 by Savage and
Savage within the boundaries of the Croissant and Gteen properties. The properties wen
evaluated for the three criteria for fiu~sdictional wetlands; hydrophytic vegetation, hydric
soils, and a hydrologic regime indicative of inundation or saturation. Jurisdictional
wetlands and waters of the United States were ids and mapped within the
properties. Jurisdictional wetlands wao iderdified within the Big Thompson River,
ta0water drainages, relict oxbows or historic charnels, sideslope seeps, end toeslope
seeps. Waters of the Untted States were iderdified within the Big Thompson River and
farm ponds located on the Grroeu properly. Jurisdictioml wetlands accounted for 30.70
acres and waters of the United States accounted for 5.51 acres.
INTRODUCTION
Savage and Savage was contracted by Banks and Gesso, LLC on behalf of Loveland
Ready Mix Concrete to delineate an area thought to contain jurisdictional wetlands within
the boundaries of the Croissant and Green properties. The properties are located south
and east of the junction of Weld County Roads 13 and 54. The Croissant property is
bounded on the west by a fence line, on the north by County Road 54, on the east by the
Big Thompson River and on the south by a fenceline at the top of the secondary alluvial
terrace above the Big Thompson River. The Green properly is bounded on the west by
County Road 13, onthe north by County Read 54, on the east by the fence line with the
Croissant property, and on the south by the property fence and southeast by the Hillsboro
Ditch The properties are located within the W'/,Nl/2 of Section 30, Township 5 North,
Range 67 West of the Sixth Prime Meridian in Weld County, Colorado. The latitude and
longitude of the center of the Croissant property are 40°22'07" North and 104°56'00"
West. The latdiide and longitude of the center of the Green property are 40°22'07" North
and 104°56'25" West.
The purpose of this delineation was to identify and map jurisdictional wetlands and waters
of the United States within the area of interest in advance of front plarnuug for mineral
extraction and development of this area. The jurisdictional wetland delineation was
conducted in conjunction with a survey for the Ute ladies=tresses orchid (Spiranthes
diluvialis). Fieldwork was conducted July 21 and 24, 2000 by Michael and Edith Savage
of Savage and Savage.
SITE CHARACTERLSTICS
Topography and Geomorphic Features
The most significant topographic features of the properties are the Big Thompson River
and associated terraces. The Big Thompson River flows from northwest to southeast
across the northeast comer of the Croissant property. Approximately the north half of
-1-
