' EXHIBIT D
SOILS
8 Mile Clay Mine
San Isabel Stony Sandy Loam
1 - 5~ slope
The soils in this area are stony sandy loams that are shallow over gra-
vel and cobbles. The subsoil is moderately coarse te xtured. Large
round boulders are numerous with many of them nearly buried. Permea-
bility of this soil is rapid, and the available water capacity is low.
Samsil Clay Loam
0 - 3Y slope
The Samsil series is made up of shallow, well-drained soils formed on
upland hills and ridges in clayey residuum weathered from shale. The
surface horizon is strongly calcareous, light brownis h-gray clay about
3 inches thick. The subsoil, about 9 inches thick, i s strongly calcar-
' eous, light yellowish-brown clay. Underlying this is strongly calcar-
eous shale. The permeability is slow, the runoff is rapid, and the
erosion hazard is high.
LJ
C

1
fl
