The decision date for your application is scheduled for July 30, 2004.
Therefore, I would appreciate a response from you on or before July 23, 2004. Please be advised
that your application maybe deemed inadequate and maybe denied on July 30, 2004 unless the
following adequacy review items are addressed to the satisfaction of the Division.
6.3.3 EXHIBIT C - Minim= Plan
1. The mining plan indicates excavation into a dry creek bed (Sandy Creek) at a depth of
approximately 15 feet to remove sand and gravel resources, then grade exterior slopes at a rate of
3: 1. Since the excavation will be in an ephemeral creek bed, the Division requests that the
upstream and downstream limits of excavation be graded at a rate of 5:1 to minimize erosion
during mining and reclamation. The channel side slopes may be graded at a rate of 3:1 as
specified. Please respond.
2. Attached are review comments from the Office of the State Engineer.
6.3.4 EXHIBIT D -Reclamation Plan
3. The soils and vegetation sections indicate that the native vegetative cover consists of sedges,
western wheat grass, blue grama, side-oats grama, needle-and-thread, and prairie sandreed
grasses. The suggested re-vegetation seed mix consisting of yellow sweetclover, smooth brome,
and blue grama is not adequate for a diverse, long-lasting vegetative cover to complete apost-
mining land use of pastureland. The Division strongly suggests the applicant consider the re-
vegetation seed mix listed below for use during final reclamation. Also, the applicant may also
consider incorporation of cow manure or other soil treatments to add organic matter and/or
Office of Office of `"' `~"" '"`-" Colorado"'
Mined Cand Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
