<br /> <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />1 <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br />MYRIN PIT <br />The Myrin pit is located 2 miles northwest of Toponas on State <br />Highway 131 and ~ mile south of the highway. The pit is on private <br />ground. <br />The pit is a high terrace of sand and gravel with soil overburden. <br />The gravel is approximately 30 feet deep and the soil overburden <br />approximately 2 feet deep. Vegetation on the area consists of brush <br />grass and forties. <br />The pit has been used since about 1952 by both the county and the state <br />for highway work in the area. Stockpiles of material are kept in the <br />plant and stockpile pit for maintenance purposes. The Division of High- <br />ways hopes to use the pit for many years for work in the area. <br />The mining operation consists of stripping and stockpiling the sail over- <br />burden and excavating the sand and gravel. The sand and gravel will <br />either be hauled directly to a project or crushed and stockpiled. <br />Reclamation will consist of grading the slopes to 3 to 1 or flatten, <br />and grading ±he fl^^r so that r.c lor: sects gist. A1'. dis~;:~ta~ <br />areas will be covered with soil overburden,~fertilized, seeded, and <br />mulched. This reclamation will be done on areas of the pit in which <br />work is completed. <br /> <br />r <br /> <br />
